    | On all four days of the conference, a large number of
            side events took place which were 
            related to conference themes and were organised by conference
            participants on their own responsibility. A number of side events
            focussing on the same special themes were combined into 
            one-day side events. 
 renewables 2004 was also  accompanied by a number of
            related events
            organised by governments, national and international organisations
            and organisations of civil society on their own responsibility.

            with Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and 
            Nuclear Safety (BMU), Institute for Sustainable Solutions and 
            Innovations (ISUSI), The International Solar Energy Society (ISES), 
            Institute for Ecological Economy Research (I�W), Federal Association 
            for Renewable Energies (BEE), European Renewable Energies Federation 
            (EREF), Consortium of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), 
            Universities of Flensburg, Bonn (ZEF), G�ttingen and Oldenburg, 
            Germany
 The science forum took place on 1 June at the Wissenschaftszentrum Bonn, is organized by the Solar Energy Research 
            Association (FVS) in partnership with UNESCO. 
 The forum  presented and discussed research perspectives on 
            different renewable energy technologies in industrialised as well as 
            developing countries.
 
 The final panel discussion  highlighted the significance of 
            research and training for a renewable energy supply. Various 
            side-events  explored the context of science and policies.
